WHO WE ARE

Psi Eta Mu provides members with chances to practice leadership skills, network with peers, and talk with numerous corporate representatives. Psi Eta Mu is a family where members and pledges build friendships that will last beyond their time at college and into the professional workplace.

As the first and only Information Sciences fraternity at UIUC, Psi Eta Mu currently has around 75+ students in this chapter with a large semesterly growth. The crowd Psi Eta Mu attracts ranges from Information Science majors to Statistics, Psychology, Computer Science, and Engineering majors. However, we welcome all majors!

DATA SCIENCE & DATA ANALYSIS

Data science and data analysis are transformative fields that turn raw data into actionable insights. Data science encompasses the use of statistical methods, algorithms, and machine learning techniques to uncover patterns and make predictions, while data analysis focuses on interpreting and visualizing data to inform decision-making. Together, they empower businesses, researchers, and organizations to harness the power of data, drive innovation, and solve complex problems.

BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE

Business Intelligence (BI) involves the use of data analysis tools and techniques to transform raw data into actionable insights for strategic decision-making. By collecting, integrating, and analyzing data from various sources, BI helps organizations identify trends, monitor performance, and make informed decisions. With BI, businesses can visualize key metrics, uncover hidden patterns, and forecast future outcomes, enabling them to optimize operations, drive growth, and maintain a competitive edge.

HCI/UX

Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and User Experience (UX) focus on designing technology that is intuitive, efficient, and enjoyable for users. HCI explores how people interact with computers, aiming to improve usability through user-centered approaches. UX, on the other hand, encompasses the overall experience a user has with a product, from initial interaction to long-term satisfaction. By prioritizing user needs and behaviors, we ensure that technology functions well and provides a seamless experience.

CYBERSECURITY

Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting systems, networks, and data from digital attacks, theft, and damage. It encompasses a range of strategies and technologies designed to safeguard sensitive information and ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of data. With the increasing frequency and sophistication of cyber threats, robust cybersecurity measures are essential for defending against breaches, maintaining privacy, and ensuring the continuity of operations.

CONSULTING

Consulting is a dynamic field focused on solving complex problems and guiding organizations toward strategic success. Consultants work closely with clients to analyze challenges, identify opportunities, and develop actionable solutions across a range of industries. This field brings analytical thinking, communication, and project management to deliver practical, results-driven outcomes. By combining analytical insight with a client-centered approach, consulting drives meaningful impact and long-term value.

PHM worked with John Deere during a workshop where members were given the opportunity to learn more about coding and participate in a coding competition.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Each semester, Psi Eta Mu volunteers at Salt & Light, helping stock shelves, organize donations, and assist with seasonal projects to support families in our local community.
