Frequently Asked Questions

What is Rush?

Rush is the term used to describe the process of joining our fraternity! It requires going to one of our information nights, one professional event, one social event, and going through the behavioral interview rounds.

Do I have to be an IS Major? Is there a GPA Requirement?

You do not have to be an Information Sciences major. A better-suited candidate would ideally be one interested in careers that fall under information sciences. This is very broad, however, and can fall under anything technology-related: consulting, user-centered design, analytics, etc. As stated in our metrics, we have over 15+ majors in the organization. Do not let your major stop you from rushing! There is no GPA requirement.

How many events do I need to attend?

It is mandatory to attend at least one of the information nights, one professional event, and one social event to be considered for an interview.

What is a bid?

A bid is an official invitation extended to prospective members to join our community. It offers the opportunity to become integral parts of our collaborative and knowledge-driven network.

What are the requirements for pledge semester?

Required components include attending chapters each week, which include both Pledge-only and Fraternity-wide ones, as well as preparing a capstone project related to information sciences over the semester. Pledges are expected to attend a minimum number of professional events, including ones hosted by corporations or our very own members! Other components include attending coffee chats, participating in philanthropy events, or presenting a professional topic at one of the chapters! Feel free to message with any additional questions.

If I don't receive a bid, can I rush again?

Absolutely! We encourage you to rush again even if you don't receive a bid the first time. Many members receive bids in subsequent rush periods, so don't be discouraged. We welcome your continued interest!
